The World Boxing Council is very proud to announce the official belt presentation to middleweight world champion Sergio Martinez on May 4 in Mexico City.
Martinez gave a memorable performance this past Saturday night in Atlantic City and won his second championship of the world by defeating a great champion, Kelly Pavlik.
Martinez has been a pride of the WBC for many years. He became the WBC Latin American
champion in 2005 and was constantly fighting for recognition. Our late Board member, Ruben Martinez of Spain, was always confident that Sergio would be a world champion and a great star.
After winning a final elimination bout, Martinez went on to win the WBC super welterweight championship, and now has conquered the WBC middleweight
championship.
The WBC has arranged a press conference on Tuesday, May 4, at the WBC headquarters in Mexico City to present Martinez with his middleweight championship belt.
