(Orange, CA, April) - In May of 2000, Ken Thompson, the former President of the
World Boxing Hall of Fame, launched Thompson Boxing Promotions with the intent of providing boxing fans with quality cards featuring top-notch talent in competitive fights. Nearly ten years later, it's evident that Thompson has lived up to his intentions, making the California-based promotional company one of the best in the game in the process.


In this tenth year, Thompson Boxing Promotions will continue its mission, and if the company's spring schedule is any indication, the best is yet to come.




April 23

On April 23rd, Thompson will return to the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California for the latest edition of its hit series "Path to Glory". Featuring a junior welterweight showdown between hot prospect Mauricio "El Maestro" Herrera and veteran Efren Hinojosa, this bout will be telecast on Fox Sports en Español (on tape delay).

May 7

Two weeks later, the biggest names in boxing will take off the gloves and pick up the clubs for the charity "Golf Tournament of Champions" at the Desert Princess Country Club in Cathedral City, California.

May 14

On Friday, May 14th, the Primm Valley Casino Resorts in Primm, Nevada will play host to the ESPN2 Friday Night Fights doubleheader featuring the return of former world champion Julio "The Kidd" Diaz against former world title challenger Herman Ngoudjo, and the lightweight bout between Dominic Salcido and unbeaten Guillermo Sanchez. The May 14th event will be presented in association with Guilty Boxing and Vega Boxing.

May 22

The eyes of the boxing world will be on STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, on Saturday, May 22nd, and with good reason, as Showtime Championship Boxing will be headlined not only by the fourth bout between Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez, but the IBF bantamweight title fight between champion Yonnhy "El Colombiano" Perez and challenger Abner Mares.

The May 22 co-feature will be presented in association with Gary Shaw Productions, Golden Boy Promotions and Espinoza Promotions.

May 29

Just 22 years old, unbeaten featherweight contender Juan Carlos Burgos has sailed up the 126-pound rankings. On Saturday, May 29th, he will headline Mexico's Televisa Network, at a location to be determined, against veteran Ricardo Castillo for the WBC Cabofe featherweight title. The May 29 event will be presented in association with Banner Promotions.

June 18

Less than a month away from Burgos-Castillo, Thompson Boxing Promotions returns to the Doubletree Hotel, Ontario, for another action-packed night of fights featuring Southern California's top fistic talent. This bout will be telecast on Fox Sports en Español (on tape delay).

June 19

HBO Boxing After Dark will be on hand at the Agua Caliente Casino * Resort * Spa on Saturday, June 19th, when WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley defends his crown against Argentinean KO artist Marcos Maidana. The June 19 event will be presented in association with Gary Shaw Productions, Golden Boy Promotions and Spotlight Boxing.
