MALIGNAGGI DECISIONS DIAZ, ORTIZ BACK IN WIN COLUMN

Junior welterweight Paulie Malignaggi (27-3, 5 KOs) gained revenge against Juan Diaz (35-3, 17 KOs), taking a twelve round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. All three judges scored it 116-111. Malignaggi was erroneously credited with a knockdown in round ten by referee Gino Rodriguez. Diaz had won a controversial decision over Malignaggi in August.



Welterweight Victor Ortiz (25-2-1, 20 KOs) returned from his loss to Marcos Maidana with a seventh round TKO over veteran Antonio Diaz (45-6-1, 27 KOs). Ortiz dropped Diaz in round three and the bout ended between rounds six and seven when Diaz could not continue due to a bad cut over his left eye.
Welterweight Randall Bailey (40-7, 35 KOs) scored a dominant eight round unanimous decision over Germaine Sanders (27-8, 17 KOs) by scores of 78-71, 79-70 and 77-72. The former two-time world champion had Sanders down three times.

Junior middleweight Ronald Hearns (23-1, 18 KOs) stopped Shadrack Kipruto (10-12, 7 KOs) at the 2:33 mark of round six.

Heavyweight Dominick Guinn (32-6-1, 21 KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over journeyman Charles Davis (19-18-2, 4 KOs). Scores were 58-56, 58-56, 60-54.

Welterweight Jermell Charlo (10-0, 4 KOs) scored a second round KO over previously unbeaten Abdon Lozano (6-1, 1 KO).

Junior lightweight Argenis Mendez (15-1, 9 KOs) outpointed Morris Chule (7-8-1, 7 KOs) over eight rounds by scores of 78-74, 80-72, 80-72.

Junior welterweight Hylon Williams (12-0, 3 KOs) swept past Humberto Tapia (14-12-1, 7 KOs) over eight by scores of 80-72 on all cards.
