World Boxing Council President José Sulaiman announced that the WBC closed its 47th annual convention in Jeju, Korea, with a unanimous vote to hold an international gala dinner at the beginning of the year to honor both fighters who compete in the first WBC DIAMOND BELT fight on November 14 in Las Vegas - three-division WBC world champion Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines and Miguel Angel Cotto of Puerto Rico, a former WBC International champion and a welterweight champion today. A special homage will be given to the winner.

The Diamond Belt will be offered in the future only on very select occasions, as it was created exclusively to be fought for only by Elite champions.

This WBC Diamond Belt has not only great financial value, with extraordinary artistic placement of more than 900 hundred precious stones, with over 500 diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and Swaroski stones included over a plate of 18 carot gold and the WBC logo, but it will also be written with gold letters in the history of boxing and the WBC as it will be disputed and won for the first time ever by one of the best champions at the present time in boxing.

Top Rank will also be awarded with a diamond medal for being the promoter of this great boxing event.

Dinner committees have already been appointed in the Philippines to be headed by Games and Amusement Board Chairman Eric Buhain, as well as Dommys Delgado, the president of the Puerto Rico Boxing Federation.
