In front of a packed house at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV, Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao (50-3-2 with 38 Kos) destroyed Miguel Cotto (34-2 with 27 KOs) over twelve brutally exciting rounds to pick up the WBC Welterweight title and further cement his status as the sport’s best fighter. The bout was billed as “Firepower” and on this night Pacquaio’s arsenal was by far superior. Both men entered the raucous arena to thundering cheers and applause to put forth a solid effort. But, in the end, Pacquiao made history by becoming the first fighter to win seven world titles in as many weight classes with a stunning 12th round technical knockout of Miguel Cotto. Pacquiao looked unstoppable for the third consecutive fight, knocking Cotto down twice in the early rounds Saturday before putting the finishing touches on in the 12th round to claim Cotto's World Boxing Organization welterweight title.

Top Rank’s hot Olympian middleweight prospect Matt Korobov (8-0, 6 KOs) took a one-sided six round unanimous decision over James Winchester (10-3, 3 KOs). Scores were 60-54 on all cards.

Eden Sonsona def Elion Kedem via TKO at :17 in the second round. Sonsona dropped Kedem with a hard left hand in the first round and blitzed Kedem right as the bell sounded in the second as referee Joe Cortez was forced to wave off the bout.

Flyweight Richie Mepranum (15-2-1, 3 KOs) won a six round split decision over Ernie Marquez (9-6-2, 3 KOs). Scores were 58-55, 57-56 Mepranum, 57-56 Marquez.

Lightweight Abner Cotto (5-0, 3 KOs), Miguel’s second cousin, won a six round unanimous decision over Luis Guzman (3-5, 2 KOs). Scores were 59-55, 60-54, 60-54.

Super Welterweight Rodrigo Garcia remained unbeaten with a workmanlike four round unanimous decision over Martin Vierra (5-3-1, 2 KO’s). Garcia (5-0 4 KO’s) landed the more effective and harder punches of the two. All three judges scored the bout 40-36 for Garcia.
