great site. I myself believe Marquez was a bigger part of the paperview buys. Marquez did not become a big star until after pacquiao 2 and after people saw what he did to Casamayor and Diaz. If Mayweather was to fight someone other than Pacquiao or Mosley I dont think he would get anywhere 1 mil.

(SugarRayRobinsonIsNumber1) Interesting take. I guess the combinations of those wins brought more star power to Marquez. But, if that is the case then why didn't the boxing writers elaborate on his new found star power? Or why didn't Golden Boy's due diligence conclude with the notion of Marquez being a driving force of PPV purchases? Makes you wonder...

you're wrong. 1. floyd used delahoya big draw.
    2. ricky hatton while he was undefeated HUge uk fanbase. 3. Marquez when he just became a huge star to the mexican people and others after his great fight with diaz.
So like he said he is a smart business man. lol

great facts on the video... I always knew floyd was a ppv attraction.. but not to that extent with the numbers you brought up... personally i was surprised his fight with marquez did over a million domestic buys and still counting... and there would have been more buys if the fight wasn't in theater outlets... floyd may not be the most exciting fighter.. but he is "the cash king" right now in boxing

  1. as a respectful adult just stopping by to say nice points...i might just add that both pacquiao and mayweather know they can make to most if they face each other so who the bigger draw is isn't as important they need each other

  1. justin is strikehearts on youtube just so you know

Cotto V Pac will outsell Marquez v Mayweather. That is the only true barometer of who is the PPV king at this point in time. In the past it was Manny then Floyd. Now it is Manny again. The fight between them should be a 50 50 split. Mayweather is the one crying for more saying he's the bigger draw. We will see after the Pac Cotto fight who really is the bigger draw. I would bet my house that it will be Pac. I still think 50 50 is fair either way. Let's get it on already provided Pac wins.

Let's see what Manny and Cotto brings.

Ashyknuckles: it is unfair to compare two boxers but only include the PPV numbers from their match with one another for one fighter. You added the 2.4 PPV buys from the Mayweather vs. De La Hoya fight only on Floyd's side. Please advise if my logic is correct or not. I appreciate your great analyses and work.
