Floyd "Money" Mayweather dominated #2 pound for pound Juan Manuel Marquez in a comeback fight. Mayweather was absent from the sport for almost two years and ring rust was apparent, but he did drop Marquez in round 2 with a thunderous lead left hook. However, Floyd would finally mount an impressive offense which left Marquez perplexed in deciphering the code to crack the Mayweather defense. Mayweather arguably reclaimed the top spot on the mythical pound for pound list for decisively beating Marquez, and barely losing a round against one of the best fighters of this era. The victory brought "Money's" unbeaten streak to (40 - 0 w/ 25KOs). Scores were 118-109, 120-107 and 119-108, all for Mayweather.

WBA featherweight champion Chris John (43-0-1, 22 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Rocky Juarez (28-5-1, 20 KOs) keeping his featherweight world title. John outboxed Rocky Juarez over the course of the fight, but overcamed a scare as Juarez almost had him out in the twelfth round. Scores were 114-113, 119-109, 117-111. John and Juarez previously battled to a draw in February, which most observers felt should have been a John victory.

In a clash for the vacant WBO interim lightweight title, Michael Katsidis (26-2, 21 KOs) pounced on Vicente Escobedo (21-2, 13 KOs) for twelve rounds to claim 115-113, 118-110 win on two cards. Escobedo was ahead 116-112 on the third card. The judge that scored the fight in Escobedo's favor must have been awarding points for failure to hit the canvas.

Featherweight Cornelius Lock (19-4-1, 12 KOs) impressively stopped previously unbeaten Orlando Cruz (16-1-1, 7 KOs) in round five. The southpaw, Lock dropped Cruz in round one with counter right hook, and finished him at 2:08 of the fifth with an identical right hook. With the win, Lock claimed the vacant NABO belt.
