The site and date are set for Mikkel Kessler, of Denmark, to face Andre Ward, of the US, in round one of the Super Six Tournament in the Super Middleweight division. With both guys victorious in their respective tune-up fights, they look forward to facing each other in one of the most compelling fights in Super Middleweight history.

Ward (20-0, 13 KOs) remained undefeated, stopping Shelby Pudwill (22-4-1, 9 KOs) at 2:16 of the third round. Mikkel Kessler (42-1, 32 KOs), also victorious, retained his WBA super middleweight title with a fourth-round TKO over Venezuela’s Gusmyr Perdomo (16-3, 10KOs). Ward will now meet Kessler in Stage 1 of the tourney, on Nov. 21, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. It remains rather interesting to see if the WBA will continue to sanction fights within the tournament, or strip the winner if they choose not to fight the required mandatory contenders throughout the course of the Super Six. I've said it before and I'll say it again, kudos to the WBC for sanctioning the series of fights yet to take place in the coming months between arguably the best 168lbers in the world. The winner of the tournament does have continued business at the 168lb division as Allan Green, Lucian Bute, Librado Andrade, and Marcus Johnson look to stake a claim as being the best within the division.
